Key Achievements in Clean Energy Adoption
Reducing Energy Consumption and Promoting Efficiency
Central Retail Corporation (CRC)
CRC has installed LED lighting across 90% of its operations, significantly reducing energy consumption. It has also introduced energy-efficient refrigeration systems that utilize environmentally friendly refrigerants, helping to lower the company’s carbon footprint. Additionally, CRC has implemented advanced energy management technologies, including the Energy Management Information System (EMIS) and inverter-based voltage control systems, to optimize energy use in real time.
Central Pattana (CPN)
CPN has replaced all central and decorative lighting in its 42 shopping centers with LED lights. It has also adopted advanced technologies such as MERVE Filters in air purification systems, with completed installation of 13 projects, HVAC Air Scrubber, and AI-driven chiller plant optimization to monitor and manage energy use effectively.
Centara Hotels & Resorts
Centara has achieved 100% LED lighting in all its properties and introduced Room Control Units to manage energy usage within guest rooms. The implementation of intelligent motion detectors and heat recovery systems, such as Economizers and Heat Reclaims, has further reduced energy consumption by recycling excess heat for water heating purposes.
Selfridges (UK)
Selfridges has continually enhanced its energy efficiency initiatives by replacing outdated refrigerants with environmentally friendly alternatives. The company also monitors energy usage during non-operational hours and has transitioned to LED lighting across its stores to minimize overall energy consumption.
Expanding Clean Energy Adoption
Central Retail Corporation (CRC)
CRC has installed solar rooftop systems across its department stores and distribution centers, achieving installations at 162 sites, including Robinson Lifestyle, Central Department Store, Robinson Department Store, Supersports, and Thai Watsadu, across Thailand and 30 additional sites in Vietnam in 2024.
Central Pattana (CPN)
CPN has implemented various solar installation methods tailored to different project types, including solar rooftops for new construction, retrofitted rooftops, and solar carports.
Centara Hotels & Resorts
Centara aims to meet 40% of its electricity needs through solar energy, with extensive installations of solar panels on its rooftops.
Selfridges (UK)
Since 2014, Selfridges has adhered to the Carbon Trust Triple Standard for resource efficiency in carbon, water, and waste management. In 2023, the company advanced to the Carbon Trust’s Route to Net Zero Standard, which evaluates carbon reduction targets in line with Science-Based Targets (SBTs). The company uses 100% renewable electricity and gas, with continued efforts to lower energy usage.
Designing for Sustainable Efficiency
Central Pattana (CPN)
CPN has integrated international green building standards, including LEED and TREES, into its real estate projects. Examples include CentralWorld, Central Westville, and Central Nakhon Sawan. The issuance of over THB 10 billion in Green and Sustainability-linked Bonds supports investments in energy-efficient and water management projects, contributing to the goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Central Restaurants Group (CRG)
CRG has developed KFC Green Store at Robinson Ratchaphruek through ‘Journey to Zero’ concept, using eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems in its design.
Collaborating for a Low-Carbon Future
Central Group recognizes the importance of partnerships in achieving sustainability goals. Initiatives such as promoting electric vehicles, reforestation projects, and community carbon markets engage government agencies, private organizations, and communities.
CPN has also launched the Better Futures Project, a Net Zero Impact Event focused on actionable sustainability efforts. Through its Green Partnership program.
