Central Retail brings the best of in-store and online shopping to Thailand during 11.11 shopfest
Central Retail Corporation Public Company Limited (“Central Retail”) today celebrated the launch of new omnichannel services: 1-hour pickup and express delivery, as it is spurring shopping demand during the festive season with promotions and discounts of up to 90% through its first 11.11 Mega Sale. The annual shopping extravaganza is scheduled for November 7-11 and will be available across Central Retail’s and Central’s Group physical stores and online platforms. Dozens of business units distributing over 1 million products are joining the campaign to offer the biggest exclusive deals with every item guaranteed to be 100% authentic.
“Today, Thai consumers purchase only 5% of goods from online stores and do the majority of their shopping at physical retail locations. We are committed to bringing the best of both worlds – stores and webshops – to Thai consumers,” said Mr. Nicolo Galante, President of Central Retail Corporation Public Company Limited, “Take 11.11 for example. Until 2018, such campaign was only available for online shopping, but this year our 11.11 is everywhere - both in-store and online for the first time.”
Nicolo explained that the starting point for the campaign were simple questions: “Why don’t we offer customers who like in-store shopping the same promotions they could find online?” and “Why don’t we offer customers who like online shopping the services, guarantees of authenticity and advice they could find at the physical stores?”
In an average month, physical stores under Central Retail and Central Group were visited by roughly 100 million customers while the webshops had over 16 million sessions.
Nicolo said, “While online shopping can offer the convenience, customers still look for the ability to try and touch the goods, advice from sales assistants, after-sales services, as well as instant gratification from the fact that they don’t have to wait for product delivery. To offer the best shopping solutions to both online and offline customers, a number of services have been integrated into Central Retail’s shopping experience to effectively and seamlessly respond to the needs of customers.”
Central Retail is launching the next generation of services, including 1-hour pick up with PowerBuy consumer electronic products and 2-hour express delivery with Central Chat & Shop and Tops.
Through the 1-hour pickup service with PowerBuy, customers can select the product online and pick it up at one of the PowerBuy stores nationwide at their convenient time, as fast as within one hour after the order confirmation. For the express grocery with Tops, customers in Bangkok can get their purchases delivered within two hours through our delivery partner Grab to ensure instant gratification without having to wait until the next day. In addition, the express delivery with Central Chat and Shop service allows customers to chat with personal assistants when making a purchase. The assistants can give advice and recommend the products that fit the needs of each customer, and get the purchases delivered within 99 minutes in Bangkok and the vicinity area.
"For this upcoming 11.11 shopfest, we selected James Ma as campaign ambassador because he is a real user who can represent the shopping experience and bring the brand to new generation customers," Nicolò revealed.
Central Retail expects the year-end sales festival to be a key success factor for this year's performance. It is anticipated that the total website visits during the campaign period will hit over 4.2 times more than that of the same period last year, as shoppers flock to snap up deals across all categories.
